Straight off the back of a release featuring Ash Grunwald in August, Perth’s Ben Catley follows up with a banger of a slide guitar single.
As if an EDM track collided with a delta blues track, ‘Go Better’ is a thumping three minutes of blues/rock that perfectly captures the energy and intensity of Ben’s live show.
“It’s a fairly simple blues track, just with some slide guitar that’s bloody tricky to play while singing and playing the kick drum. The song touches on experiences, mainly on stage, where things aren’t going to plan at all.
As a metaphor for life in general, I’ve found that through the
adversity of things going wrong, things always seem to end up going better – our better judgement and instincts kick in. I think we all learn from the testing moments in life.”
Over the past couple of years, Ben has taken his music far and wide, finding himself on international festival lineups amongst huge names across Australia, NZ, UK, Singapore, Holland, Réunion Island and The Philippines.
With a brand of positive and motivating songwriting, mesmerising guitar playing and an uplifting stage presence, he captivates crowds
like few other solo acts. ‘Go Better’ is available everywhere on Friday, October 16th.
Recorded with Lance Robinson at Pavement Studios, Perth.
Mastered by Steve Smart at Studios301, Sydney.
