Alt-rockers BOY GIRL have been lighting up the live scene with a blistering rock and roll show for the past 12 months. Now it’s time to launch their first official single, TWITCHIN’ IN YOUR SLEEP.
Somewhere between the bass-heavy riffs of Royal Blood, the sonic ambition of Smashing Pumpkins and the interplay of male and female vocals à la Wolf Alice, they’ve taken their time making sure the frenetic live energy they emanate on stage was captured at Sumo Sound Studios, and the results are fat and loud.
Formed by Perth songwriter Luke Irvine (vocals/guitar) and initially inspired by the likes of Radiohead, At The Drive-In and Kyuss/Queens of the Stone Age, the line up has expanded to become a multicultural melting pot of locally and internationally renowned talent including Bangladeshi heavy rock royalty Nads Walid (Mechanix – whose 120k Facebook fans speaks for itself) on bass, popular UK import Chantal Inskip (Smoking Kills) on vocals/keys, and hard-hitting Aaron ‘Muscles’ Muller on drums.
Combining smart storytelling with big riffs and an alt-rock twist, BOY GIRL take 90s/00s rock and give it a contemporary update that, if their live show is anything to go by, is proving quite addictive.
