If you haven’t heard of the COVID-19 pandemic yet you must have been living under a rock. If that’s the case, my advice is stay there in blissful isolation and don’t come out for at least six months.
We do ask that, if you have a release coming up, or something else you want to publicise, you consider spending some of your marketing budget with us.
For the rest of us, COVID-19 has swept us along in an ever evolving chain of events that now sees Australia on the verge of a lock down. We’re at the serious end of trying to limit the spread of the virus to minimise the impact on our health system and reduce the number of deaths. This means that the music industry as we know it has pretty much ground to a halt along with the livelihoods of thousands of people involved in the industry. It’s a terrible circumstance, no one wants to lose their job, but it’s better than risking losing our lives or those of family and friends.
This is serious. It’s probably the most serious thing we’ll ever face in our lifetimes.
Here at Around The Sound, we’re committed to continuing to report on music and bringing you stories about what’s happening locally, nationally and internationally. There are plenty of other news sources that can give you accurate information about what to do regarding COVID-19. We might post the odd meme or track that’s related to the times, but we’re mostly going to stick to what we do best, and that’s bringing you in-depth stories, news and information about what’s happening in the music industry.
If you’re a musician or work in other roles in the music industry, like you, Around The Sound’s income has dried up. We shut down our print publication at the beginning of this year partly because the cost was unsustainable, but we are determined to keep bringing you music news via our website and social media. COVID-19 has now made what was a difficult task even trickier, but we shall prevail.
We’re not going to ask you for donations.
There’s little enough disposable income around even in the good times. So, we’re not going to start a crowd funding campaign, we’re just going to keep doing what we’re doing.
We do ask that, if you have a release coming up, or something else you want to publicise, you consider spending some of your marketing budget with us. We promise to give you excellent value and as much quality coverage as we’re capable of providing. We’ll have news about new Around The Sound member offers coming soon.
Please stay engaged. Click on our links, visit our website, click like and comment on our socials, and let your friends know about us. Together we can get through this and keep music alive, and Around The Sound wants to keep being part of the scene.
