WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU DOPE LEMONS
It was a frosty 12 degrees as the crowds began to line up outside of Metro Fremantle, awaiting the fruity goodness of Angus Stone’s piece, Dope Lemon.
A sold out venue stood like sardines, the music stopped, the lights went dim and the screams filled the air.
Walking onto stage like the rockstar he is, Stone stole the show within the first few minutes.
Playing a mix of songs from his newly released album Smooth Big Cat as well as his 2017 Hounds Tooth and 2016 Honey Bones, the crowd was non stop dancing.
When the start of ‘Marinade’ was played, the crowd sang along to the tune, screaming out the sound before the words had even started.
Stone took a moment to appreciate his band mates pointing out the different locations that they are from, Berlin, Brooklyn and even as far as Melbourne.
With over two million plays on Spotify in a few months ‘Hey You’, delighted the audience, the groovy tune had everyone moving to the beat.
With a few huge thank you’s, kisses blown and a grin Dope Lemon began to play ‘Home Soon’ as their final song of the night. I have never seen so many people smiling.
Erupting into a “one more song” chant the venue began to shake, the floor rumbled and the air was filled with hope as we waited for the encore.
Running back on stage Dope Lemon played ‘Up Town Folk’, a great way to end the night.
Very different to a normal lemon, this one is sweet and juicy. It leaves you wanting more, and I can’t wait for their return at Falls Festival early next year.
