Whitfords Nodes Park in Hillarys was filled to capacity with people of all ages keen to get a taste of Fatboy Slim, one of the greatest music icons of our time. Norman Cook delighted the crowds and delivered a standout performance that sent sound waves soaring across the oceanside location.
Fatboy Slim was able to demonstrate that he is still not only relevant on the international music scene but, indeed, cutting edge.
Touring with Fatboy Slim were special guests: 2manydjs, Icarus and Love Deluxe. Love Deluxe got the crowd moving and set the scene for what was an excellent night ahead. Icarus put out some chilled vibes to a steadily filling crowd. Icarus mastered a combination of chilled out mixes with heavy base that got the crowd moving. Belgian act, 2manydjs produced what felt like a perfectly mastered European dance rave, which got the crowd moving in readiness for Fatboy Slim.
The crowd were piqued with anticipation as Fatboy Slim pumped out his iconic setlist in what felt like a feast for the senses. Norman Cook was a presence to behold as he performed with passion and enthusiasm. The crowd were transfixed on Norman Cook, his perfectly timed songs and visual projections from the very beginning all the way through to the final song. Dancing all the way through, there was hardly a soul not moving to the music.
A highlight of the night was ‘Eat Sleep Rave Repeat,’ The crowd went off to this and the collective energy was nothing short of a blast. Another stand out song was ‘Praise You,’ an iconic song that again sent the crowd into a musical tailspin.
One of the best tracks of the evening was ‘Right Here Right Now,’ This brought the crowd into a cheering mass and was undoubtedly a high point of the performance.
It has to be said that the internationally renowned DJ and producer, Fatboy Slim was able to demonstrate that he is still not only relevant on the international music scene but, indeed, cutting edge. I felt very lucky to be a part of the crowd for this epic event.
