FREO VACATION

Lime Cordiale

With their new single, ‘Robbery’ one of the most played tracks on triple j right now, the announcement that Lime Cordiale will play the Fremantle leg of next year’s Falls Festival made them a must-speak-to act for Around The Sound.  Comprising two brothers, Louis and Oli Leimbach, this fast-rising outfit is just months away from releasing their long-awaited debut album, Permanent Vacation, and they just love to play festivals.  Early next year, Lime Cordiale will be having their own Freo vacation when they come over to play Falls Festival.

Everyone’s in a different mood and dressed up looking weird, and it’s just mayhem

Oli Leimbach

“Festivals are always something to get onto, it’s where all the cool kids are at,” one half of Lime Cordiale, Oli Leimbach told ATS.  It’s just nice to be part of something with a whole bunch of bands that you admire and love.  It’s a different environment from playing club shows, it’s  … like a festival.”

Good to know that this outfit, which campaigns hard to save the planet and lives in a commune in Sydney’s inner-west, refusing the trappings of the rock star lifestyle, still has at least one member with a sense of humour!

Oli went on: “Everyone’s in a different mood and dressed up looking weird, and it’s just mayhem.  t’s a great environment to be in, especially somewhere like Freo, where we try to get to at least twice a year.

“Festivals also give us a chance to bring our music to new people, which is also pretty nerve wracking.  With our own shows, we’ve got people who’ve bought tickets just to see you, so you’re hoping everybody’s pretty keen.  With a festival you’re hoping everyone’s enjoying it.  You’ve got to fight to win people over.

“Luckily, we’ve just played Freo and it went off, so we’ve got a good feeling about it.”
