GINA WILLIAMS AND GUY GHOUSE INK GLOBAL PUBLISHING DEAL

Gina Williams

Perfect Pitch Publishing are proud to announce the signing of celebrated indigenous
songwriters/performers Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse to a global publishing agreement.
Clive Hodson, MD of Perfect Pitch Publishing said “The signing of Gina & Guy is an exciting one on many
levels not least the continued work to introduce a global audience to their beautiful Noongar stories and
language through music.”

It is especially timely, given 2019 is the International Year of Indigenous Languages. Their music is a
celebration of the things we share, not the things which divide. We all understand love and loss; they
mean the same in anyone’s language.

Over many years, Noongar language has been reduced to a whisper; but in the same way the butterfly
emerges from the cocoon, we are now witnessing a beautiful renaissance of language through song.
Gina and Guy have won Best Indigenous Act in the 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018 WA Music Industry
Awards, and have worked hard to earn a reputation as performers who connect and capture the hearts
and imaginations of audiences through the power and pure emotion of song. They bring a fresh, modern
take on ancient traditions; merging evocative sounds, poignant stories, rare language and that beautiful
voice.

Their songs and performances are informed by four principles; Koort (Heart), Moort (Family), Boodja
(Land) and Koorlangka (Children/Legacy).
Gina is a proud Balladong (Noongar) daughter with links, through her grandmother, to the Gitja people of
the East Kimberley. Her music is informed by an ancient Indigenous culture and she has drawn from a
deep well of recent West Australian and an even deeper personal history.

Discography: Kalyakoorl (2014), Bindi Bindi (2018). And there is a new album scheduled for 2019. Both
albums are performed in Noongar language, including two interpretive covers; Sting’s Englishman in New
York and The Church’s Under the Milky Way.

The duo has also commenced working in partnership with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra to
produce new works around the four principles.

“This music…this is where the ancient meets the contemporary. It’s beautiful; I love it.” Archie Roach,
National Treasure

“Incandescent vocals…guitar brilliance…rare language…songs of hope…and a whole lot of heart…” The
Weekend Edition – Brisbane

“I don’t know what she’s singing about, I just know I’m being told something good …”Bob Gordon,
Around the Sound.
