Facing her deepest fears in folk-rock fashion, Grace Turner returns with new single ‘Crossed Your Mind‘ out today, premiered via Double J’s Tower Of Song.
Also receiving its first play via triple j’s unearthed TOPS last night, the track delves into the deeply personal with her new release exploring the fear of death and embracing its innate morbidity. The song features Grace’s sombre vocals paired with melodic guitar and stark synths to produce a fully-formed work of art.
“I wrote ‘Crossed Your Mind’ at the same time as all of the songs on the EP. It was a very prolific time of writing for me. I was very obsessed with and afraid of death at this time.Secrets and fears fester if they are held only within darkness. I wanted to yell about what I was most afraid of,” recalls Grace.
‘Crossed Your Mind‘ comes from the singer-songwriter’s debut EP Half Truths which serves as an intensely emotional expression. Grace’s previous single ‘Half Light‘ signalled the singer-songwriter’s return to music for 2020. Met with five-star reviews across multiple triple j hosts, a premiere via triple j’s Home & Hosed, added to triple Junearthed radio rotation atop of praise from a number of national tastemakers including NME Australia, Music Feeds, Newcastle Herald and more.
Between the release of her previous single ‘Half Light’, her upcoming release of her debut EP and the release of ‘Crossed Your Mind‘, it’s evident that Grace Turner is going from strength to strength in impeccable style with no sign of slowing down.
‘Crossed Your Mind’ is OUT NOW. Half Truths is out Friday 7 August.
