Perth’s independent Americana artist Helen Townsend is thrilled to announce the release of WE’RE THROUGH the second single from her upcoming 2021 EP release ‘Love Lies ‘n’ Leaving’.
Introducing Shannon Smith and showcasing the duo’s vocal harmony blend that can only be likened to that which exists in kin. Her new EP, due for release early 2021, is a typically superlative collection of songs that will further enhance her reputation as a singer, songwriter and live performer.
“We’re Through” is an upbeat break up song with a sweet flavour and bitter message. Weaving between melody and harmony Helen and Shannon perform a duet that has you bopping along, but feeling forlorn for a love that was, but is no more.
Make sure you hear the EP and go see Helen perform live. She’s about to gain a whole host of new fans.

HELEN TOWNSEND – BIOGRAPHY
Is she country? Is she folk? Is she Americana? Is she blues? Helen Townsend is all of the above – and lots lots more. And she certainly has the rock’n’roll genes in spades.
Helen has played in Nashville, met Emmylou Harris, opened for Mick Thomas And The Roving Commission, nominated for countless awards, and appeared at many music festivals around the country. And that’s just until now. In this most memorable of years – the one we’re calling 2020 (but trying to forget) – Helen is about to release a brand-new EP, a musical statement that will further enhance her following and profile. Why? Because it’s bloody good, that’s why. It oozes everything wonderful about her musical career to date – then adds to it.
Helen Townsend is one of those artists who genuinely lives music, Helen understands it’s power and knows how to harness it to tell a story which gathers you up and sweeps you along.
The Fremantle-based singer-songwriter’s style runs the Americana gamut of roots rock, blues, country and folk.
With the release of her debut album, “Little Lover”, she moved into an edgier, rockier and more diverse sound. Now, she returns in 2020 with another diverse, engaging and spirited collection of songs.
Helen’s music is soulful, edgy, her storytelling is transfixing, her voice timeless and her stage presence is captivating with a pure and concise delivery. Performing nationally, and internationally, her performance in Nashville at the Sounds Australia showcase in 2018 alongside Catherine Britt, Melody Moko and Montgomery Church, earned her widespread recognition and respect as an emerging Americana artist.
Nominated for multiple West Australian Music awards including Best Country Act 2019 and 2017. Her single “Upward Now” from her 2019 Little Lover album, also received a WAM nomination for Song of The Year 2020. Helen continues to have a huge impact on the country/folk scene in Western Australia, something that is certain to be built on with her new release.
Helen’s new EP “Love Lies ‘n’ Leaving”, introduces Shannon Smith and showcases the duo’s vocal harmony blend that can only be likened to that which exists in kin, although these two are far from that. Her new EP, due for release early 2021, is a typically superlative collection of songs that will further enhance her reputation as a singer, songwriter and live performer.
