Vikki Thorn’s inimitable vocals and unique harmonica playing have made an unmistakable mark on the Australian musical landscape for the past twenty-eight years via her place as one-third of iconic trio The Waifs.
After gently testing the solo waters in 2018, Vikki Thorn is excited to announce her debut solo album under the ThornBird moniker, due out late 2021.
The first single, ‘Tempest’, is a cinematic tale of hope and desire, told by a lonely waitress stuck in a predictable, suffocating, desolate, outback truck stop. Hoping the incoming storm will unshackle her from her past and carry her to freedom via the big city lights where dreams are made, and anything is possible.
ThornBird has returned home to Western Australia after ten years in the wilds of Utah, USA. The intertwining influence of the American desert sands and the salty Australian air present a spectacular evolution of an artist that has already embedded herself into the veins of music lovers across the world.
Fans in WA will be treated to a first look and listen of ThornBird this August; tickets on sale now.
For the Fremantle Freo Social show, she will be joined by special guest Jordi Davieson from the much loved San Cisco.
