Wasting no time after the release of his debut album Chinchilla in March, Littlehawk’s new single “Say It Twice” has landed just in time to be part of your summer playlist.
In the track, Perth singer-songwriter Gavin Arnold (Littlehawk frontman) reflects on navigating early adulthood – the excitement, the emotion, and the realisation that things aren’t always as easy as you expect they’ll be.
“I definitely had fun at Uni but I was also a little over-confident, thinking a career would sort of land in my lap,”
“It wasn’t like that at all. Turned out I was what I like to call a ‘floptomist’!” he laughs.
After graduating it took six years of (mis)adventures before he felt like his life was heading in the right direction.
“I took a risk by moving to London and that’s when things started to pick up.”
“Say It Twice is about being proud of who you are, but also being careful that you don’t get ahead of yourself.”
“At the end of the day, and as cliched as it sounds, hard work pays off.”
And what a first year it’s been for Littlehawk, with live performances at the Yagan Square Opening and the State Theatre Courtyard, and airplay on Double J, Mix 94.5 and community stations across Australia. Gavin and his partner also welcomed their first baby.
“Safe to say life is pretty great right now!”
