WEDNESDAY AUGUST 5 ~  LIVE

Fed up with the classic sausage sizzle, bake sale and searching for a long lost rich relative, Runaway is a live music fundraiser event held by Curtin University Screen Arts students.

All proceeds will go towards the production costs of a final year showcase film, titled; ‘The Runaway.’ Set in rural Western Australia, the film is an adventure/drama piece following the story of Jasmine, a teenager who leaves her small country town in search of something new, only to quickly discover that starting a life over is not as simple as she had once hoped.

The event features: Ivy Dream, an indie rock band who deliver lyrical tunes and mellow harmonies. four-piece punk band, Nervous. Karmalade, who have built their own unique sound out of classic, blues and garage rock, and P.E.P talk, a six-piece band of Positive Energy People. We also have guest DJs Larry D, Le(t)slie, D33p b0rk and Malibu Stacey. Film projects, even the small ones, become very expensive very quickly! So come down, have a dance, enjoy some amazing local talent, and help support WA made film.

THURSDAY AUGUST 6 ~ LIVE

Channeling local WA musical talent, to support up skilling women in rural Indonesia

Today, the Love Foundation UWA, a University of Western Australia student run club with a focus on fighting poverty through the promotion of arts, has announced the Artist Against Poverty concert set to take place in a favorite local venue, The Sewing Room on the 6th of August. There will be a line-up of six acts set to begin at approximately 8:00pm and end at approximately 12:00pm.

The concert is a collaboration between the LOVE Foundation UWA and Perth local artists to bring the student community an inspiring line up of WA talent to electrify the music scene after the easing of restrictions. All ticket proceeds will go towards micro financing loans to mothers in Indonesia to start their own business. LOVE Foundation UWA President, Amitabh Jeganathan says it is a fun, innovative way of reintroducing causes outside of Australia after the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic:

“During unsure times we must continue to remember those who are far less fortunate than us and continue to extend the hand of compassion and empathy. This event is a way of reuniting the Western Australian student community to re-mend our broken ties and continue our mission of fighting poverty through the arts” The line-up will feature Perth artists such as: Josh Ellis, The Worms, Airline Food, Cloud Local, Man Sandal and Noah Dillion.

A showcase of some of Perth’s best original up and coming bands. This is going to be a heavy night full of distortion, dark sounds, crazy atmospherics and intense soundscapes. Featuring: Project Alchera / Crushing distortion and soaring leads fuelled by relentless drumming and thunderous bass. Watercolour Ghosts / A dark alternative rock group.Connecting musical threads through a palette of grey. Zorah / One of Perth’s most underrated progressive rock bands. Lush soundscapes and creamy rhythms to soothe the soul. Apollo80 / Heavy Psych Space trio. Lovers of fuzz, big amps and repetitive mantras.

An evening of soul and Rock N Roll Adam Hall and the Velvet Playboys. Adam Hall (leader of the Velvet Playboys) takes you for an evening of soul, Velvet sounds and groovy times at the Sewing Room August 14th at 7pm.

Think Stevie Wonder, Prince and maybe even some Beyonce and then think of the the Rock N Roll Classics from Chuck Berry, Beatles, Elton John and even. The amazing repertoire such as “Supersition”, “Johnny B Goode”, “Reet Petite” and even “All about that Bass” and many more other classic hits and original compositions will have you dancing in the aisles. Having headlined many major festivals around the world it is an amazing opportunity for perth to hear this one of a kind band. SATURDAY AUGUST 29 ~ LIVE

The Drycleaners Band emerge from their rehearsal studio, a dry cleaning factory, to get you fist pumping on the dance floor to great rock and roll classics from the 80’s, 90’s and 00’s. Think GnR, Hoodoo Gurus, Bon Jovi, Foo Fighters, Queen, Noiseworks, ACDC, The Killers, Baby Animals, Divinyls etc. Every song on the setlist is a bangar people will sing along to as they rock the dance floor to our dual male and female vocalists.

Catherine Bentley, (vocalist) and Paul Ferrante, (guitar) have been playing in bands together since 2006. Ertan Barkman (bass) joined a few years later and together they built up a repertoire of over 150+ songs. Add, David Toovey and Harry Willett, (guitars), Dan Williams (vocals) and Ant Erickson (drums) and you already have a pretty full on extremely versatile line up. But wait, there’s more as SuGr Ray Trembath (keys) and Matty O’Brien (sax) take the band to a new level. It really is a party on stage and off….

So be prepared to get your hems taken up at the Sewing Room and bring your Drycleaning…

2 blistering rock sets in the best Perth basement featuring live sets from Inside Section and The Northern Line. The Northern Suburbs punk cover band, cover mostly British punk from the late 70’s to the 80’s. Punkin out tunes from The Clash, Buzzcocks, Sex Pistols, Sham 69, The Undertone and The Ramones and many more. & Inside Section bringing you their choice selection of alt-rockin tunes from across the decades!

Adam Hall and his all star band are back raising money and awareness at JAZZ FOR A CAUSE. Massive beats, funk, soul, R&B, and so much more. This dance floor will be heaving….. Tickets are limited owing to covid restrictions, but this thing is going to be a blast….Tickets on sale shortly. Fundraising for a remote Indigenous & Community cycling program in the eastern goldfields.
