Grammy-nominated producer Mathieu Jomphe Lepine continues to usher in his debut EP with the release of new single ‘Sinking Ships‘, the third track from his artist project Mont Duamel.
Teaming up with Swedish singer-songwriter Erik Hassle, “Sinking Ships” is filled with glistening synths and soft shimmers of electronica, a fully refined soundscape that expertly showcases Mathieu’s expert musical ability.
“Erik and I have known each other since 2014 and we met when I was living in L.A. It immediately clicked creatively between us as we have a very similar taste in music”, Mathieu explains. “Since then we lost touch a little. I moved back to Montreal and he went back to Sweden so when I reached out and sent him a folder of tracks he was stoked to reconnect . He did his thing and a few days later he sent me back what he had done and I was amazed. His voice carries so much emotion and he understood the vibe of the track right away.
Building a name for himself as a renowned producer in the commercial pop world, Mathieu has worked with the likes of Madonna, Dua Lipa, Britney Spears and Ariana Grande across a number of star studded releases, including the 2014 World Cup anthem with Shakira. Growing up surrounded by a wide variety of music from his parents record collection, the producer was exposed to many different genres and schools of thought from a young age – profoundly influencing the complex musical stylings on his project – Mont Duamel.
With a deep interest in the way artistic mediums trigger an emotional response, the songwriter and producer analyses visual arts, human interaction, travel and sensory reactions throughout his artistic creations.
“Sinking Ships” is set for release 22nd October, with his EP soon to follow. Buy or stream here: https://lnk.to/sinkingships
