A new live blues album by Dilip n the Davs, recorded at Clancys in Fremantle.
A groovy mixture of variations on the blues.
Dilip n the Davs’ brand new album, their 8th to date, reflects the dynamism of their live performance with a choice selection of new and familiar tunes, all infused with variations of the blues. The Davs have been consistently busy with live shows since forming in 2005 and have built up a loyal following of listeners who attend their shows all across WA. In this latest album, the focus is on the blues, and the band certainly delivers with a wide range of originals and a couple of interpretations.
The 6 tracks are
Freo Mojo (Cozens) Swinging rhythmic blues
Firecracker (Parekh) A blend of funk, rock and blues stylings
Gypsy Rumble (Pring) Roots/Rock instrumental
Help me (Sonny Boy Williamson) A blues classic
Don’t shake my hand (Hoax) An interpretation of a band favorite
Cuban cigar (Parekh/Stone) Blues/Latin/Ska fusion
Dilip n the Davs are a Fremantle based dance band with a swag of albums already released; this live recording is their 8th full length album. They also released a 5 track ska EP late last year as part of a local feature move “Anticipation”. The band are regulars at festivals, community events and venues throughout Western Australia. Although they are best known locally as a multi-genre dance band, this particular album reflects the more bluesy side of their vast repertoire.
