Having recently released his debut single, ‘Manchester By The Sea’, a song we labelled a “quirky pop delight”, Perth artist, Trent-Jean, has gone global, with a viral video of people across the world dancing to his irresistible music amassing more than 200,000 views so far.
“The #WhyWontYouDanceWithMe Project was inspired by the message of my recent debut single ‘Manchester By The Sea’,” Trent-Jean said, “that no matter who or where we are, we are never truly alone and that we should collectively enjoy the journey of life together.
“I assembled a team of 20 plus dancers around the globe spanning age and culture to really highlight the encouragement and power that music, dance and a positive mindset can have, especially in trying times.”
The dancers in the video include Channel 7’s #DancingTogether Winner, Raz Laver, Former Telethon Child Tayla Tassef, an Auslan Interpreter and a Ugandan Village, just to name a few of the contributors.
“The idea struck me two weeks ago,” said Trent-Jean. “I was thinking about the recurring line in my debut single ‘Manchester By The Sea’, So why won’t you dance with me, Manchester By The Sea? and I remembered seeing a lot of online collaborative singing videos, and that’s when the idea to create a global collaborative dance video hit me.”
You can see the results here, as Trent-Jean takes his music to the world and brings people from all over the globe together to share their love of dance, music and life. It’s a beautiful thing.
