Philip La Rosa returns with shimmering new single ‘Black Sky’
Contemplative, gentle and enduring, Black Sky is Philip La Rosa’s latest single. Dedicated to his parents, it is an essential entry to his growing catalogue and his art-as-catharsis practice.
A sonic-twin to the blissed-out pop of his single Paradise, Black Sky uses dampened drums and unassuming piano to create a space for healing and familial bonds as he maps loss and spiritual reprieves to a constellation of emotive backing vocals amongst other-worldly textures.
Across Philip’s singles his presence is increasingly confident, Black Sky showcasing his ability to continue in his head-held-high attitudes and commitment to looking directly at how the world is reflected around him. As the song examines living with the loss of a loved one, whether it be break up or death, Philip builds light into the burdensome dark, imbuing the vast emotional breadth of the song with a heartening degree of acceptance in the face of the unknown.
Black Sky is the latest in Philip La Rosa’s series of singles. Pride, released in 2016 went viral, as did the resoundingly successful single Drowning which was produced by ARIA winning Taka Perry and released in support of Mental Health Day 2018. His singles Fable and Paradise resonating with increasing frequency, amassing 10s of 1000s of streams year by year. His most recent single Baggage was ballad for the emancipated spirit, confirming that his vulnerability in writing is a much needed tonic amongst his growing audience. Philip’s consistently vibrant, compassionate and high-calibre artistry to date has garnered unwavering support from radio and followers on streaming platforms.
