British global award-winning musician, songwriter, and entrepreneur Shayan Italia has just released his debut single, Warriors.
The new track is a piano-based ballad that’s as huge as the subject matter it explores. Shayan began writing songs after losing his mum at a young age to cancer in 1998. He lost his dad a year later to multiple sclerosis. He has since spent his life raising massive sums of money in their memory.
On the entrepreneurial side, Shayan’s flagship START Wellness Intermittent Fasting & Weight Loss app launches in 2021. On the musical side, the new track already has over half a million YouTube streams and counting. Shayan’s performance is suitably grandiose, squeezing every possible ounce of emotion from the direct and unadorned lyric: We stand, we rise, we fight, we fall. You get the picture.
This is envisioned positivity and bound for innumerable Spotify inspirational playlists. And Shayan has some notables vouching for him. These include, Time Out, ‘A silent superstar in the making’, Tim Rice, who has lauded his ‘Inspirational lyrics’, and Sir David Frost, the legendary interviewer, who posed the question: ‘Is the new Elton John going to come from India?’ I didn’t know anyone was searching for the new Elton, but David may have been onto something.
Perhaps we’re always searching for the next Elton? Maybe Shayan can have a go at filling those boots? Warriors is certainly a step in that direction. At the very least, its message attempts to address in a pop-fused artistic manner, a perceived state of world-weariness.
Nestled around Shayan’s solemn yet agile performance is a relatively bare accompaniment—piano and layered vocals, all emboldened by a swirling space in which there is plenty of room to reflect.
A drama laced track with a dynamic melodic leaning and a life-affirming lyric, Warriors is primed for mass appeal, and it just might generate it.
