The realisation that lockdown can really limit your love-life and navigating your way around that – ‘Sexy Solitude’ out today, is an ode to anyone currently craving human touch and some spicy hanky panky!
Speaking about her provocative new single, Sparrows says, “Sexy Solitude was written over several months, firstly born out of contemplating crossing the line with a good friend. It then took on further meaning during “Lockdown” as we’ve had to navigate our way through the realisation that connection and physical intimacy have often been out of reach. Lockdown has forced many of us to go inward for pleasure and self-fulfilment learning that we have to be our own ‘friend with benefits”.
‘Sexy Solitude’ can be a beautiful thing, wanna get naked and see?
This song is challenging us to rely on ourselves to fulfill our sexual needs and intimate cravings. Sparrows further adding, “Being human and having needs during this time highlighted the frustrations we go through on a daily basis but particularly for physical touch and intimacy. ‘Sexy Solitude’ will be accompanied by a B side “Run For You” – an edgy bop to see you into the weekend!
With comparisons to Lykke Li, Tove Lo and Alice Ivy, Sydney singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Sparrows (aka Jessica Nitties) has released several singles over the past year. ‘Over & Out’ secured a full rotation on triple j, community radio play and it peaked at #6 on the Australian Viral Charts (Spotify), and single ‘Hide & Seek’ is the result of a collaboration with Rob Amoruso and Gab Strum (Japanese Wallpaper) at an APRA songhub curated by Chris Walla (Death Cab for Cutie).
Earlier this year, Sparrows along with Sydney artist Fluir (aka Siobhan Krelle) launched their new record label Rola Door Records with an exclusive distribution through Ditto Music.
In 2019 Sparrows supported Northeast Party House on their sold out national ‘Magnify’ tour.
