Blessed with mystical and surreal vocals, the veteran lyricist of over a thousand songs Steve Kilbey enthralled the crowd at The Astor Theatre with a stellar performance showcasing two classic albums “Of Skins and Heart” and “Séance” from The Church catalogue – in order and in their entirety.
Kilbey was backed by Fremantle music identities Shaun & Adrian Hoffmann, Shaun Corlson, Anna Sarcich on Cello and Rachael Aquilina on Violin.
Around The Sound’s Chris Symes of Shotweiler Photography captured the on-stage moments that cured the Sunday night blues for the ravenous fans.
The singer-songwriter plans to return to WA later this year.
Meanwhile, east coast fans can catch his solo shows (intimate acoustic and with a full band), plus a mini-tour with his latest side project Steve Kilbey & The Winged Heels (new album out on 4th of June), The Church at rescheduled Bluefest, and as a special guest throughout Australia.
Kilbey has been prolific since Covid lockdowns, producing a solo album “Eleven Women” and a Kilbey Kennedy concept album “Jupiter 13”.
