Perth’s own Tempest Rising have established themselves as one of Australia’s most unique and individual Alternative Metal Acts. With a blend of hard-hitting groovy riffs, soaring choruses and fast-paced thrash driven verses. Having supported bands such as Overkill, Sepultura, Death Angel and Arch Enemy, Tempest Rising made a decision that it was time to conquer Europe, booking 17 dates across eight countries.
Around The Sound spoke to Tempest Rising guitarist James Ward-Armstrong and asked him how things were going at the tail end of the tour.
“The tour has been a lot of fun for sure!” he exclaimed. “We’re currently in Greece, finally getting a chance to do some washing (laughs). Our last show is on Sunday here in Athens and then we fly home Tuesday arvo, it’s been a real blast playing in some awesome places and seeing some amazing things.”
“Throughout this whole tour a personal highlight for me was Saint Petersburg in Russia. Facebook isn’t common in Russia, so according to the Facebook event there was like seven people going, but it relied heavily on the promoter and other forms of promotion and it was an awesome gig. I don’t usually like playing in decent size venues when there is no one around but they got the support bands correct and everyone stayed for us. Which was really the start of five or six really good and well attended shows!”
Asked what Tempest Rising be doing once they get back from Europe, Ward-Armstrong said, “We’re off to Japan at the start of May, supporting Hypocrisy and Kataklysm for four shows and we have a single and album to release around that time as well.”
Things certainly seem to be cookin’ with gas on the Tempest Rising front!
