Sgt Hulka’s new single, ‘Warrior’, sees the piano-driven, female-led quartet highlighting the struggles of men. Like the best of them, Sgt Hulka know how to wrap up serious lyrics with beautiful music and it’s good to see that they’re not too woke to be inclusive when musing on the struggles we all face just to survive in the 21st Century.
Perth artist Stacey Ann revels in powerful, sincere story telling from the heart, acclaimed for her compelling vocals, honey-like harmonies and soulful arrangements. New song, ‘She’, continues in this vein. It’s a piano-driven ballad that sees Stacey Ann coming into full bloom.
Violet Orange’s debut EP, Fool Me Twice sees this early-days band take the step from fledglings to full flight. Mining a funky brand of pop inspired by The Bangles, The Go-Go’s and The Easybeats, there are some deliciously surprising moments on these tracks. Definitely put Violet Orange on your watchlist.
