A round up of local releases you need to be listening to.
FRANKIE CREA
With new album, Warzone, Frankie Crea sounds like New York straight outta Perth. This album delivers 14 tracks of goodness with great arrangements and some nice surprises along the way. Definitely worth multiple listens. Title track, ‘Warzone’ is a standout.
RANDA AND THE SOUL KINGDOM
Put your hands up if you love soul music. New single from Randa and the Soul Kingdom, ‘Put Your Hands Up’ is danceable from start to finish and will only enhance this outfit’s reputation as globetrotting soul troubadours. Shake it!
KAT WILSON
‘Red Hill’, the lead single from Kat Wilson’s third EP, Routine, finds the artist all loved up and producing some of the best music of her career. ‘Red Hill’ has a sun-drenched melody that will stay with you for the whole summer.
THE IVORY LIES
New single from The Ivory Lies, ‘Blue Collar Woman’ is a hard rockin’ trip through boogie blues/pop that reminds us of the ‘70s in the best possible way. It rocks, it rolls, it’s got a lead break and doesn’t let up until it collapses in a heap. Get on it!
OLD DEVIL
Old Devil’s debut album, L’apell Du Vide, lobbed in our inbox out of the blue. We had a listen and our jaw dropped around 1:17 into opening track ‘Preacher’ when the vocals really kicked! This is the very best in dystopian space rock with the accent on hard.
