This mysterious and electrifying party is invite-only – and tonight you’re on the list. Captivating dancers, live percussion, hypnotising vocals, speciality acts and quick- witted comedy from MC Dave Callan. Can you take the heat?
The Underground is Elysian Creative’s debut FRINGE WORLD Festival performance. Formed as a COVID project to connect performers during isolation, the work features internationally celebrated artists who wouldn’t otherwise be in Perth over the summer. A true silver lining to lockdown, bringing you the best of Perth talent in one room.
The classic narrative of two lovers in the night, a story of irresistible desire and lust. The euphoria and freedom of The Underground is unparalleled. Watch as our lovers try to find each other, interrupted and woven together, set to the backing of live percussion from Mark McDonald and the vocal stylings of Mia Simonette. The Underground promises a 50-minute escape from the outside world, the dark depths of a sexy underground club with all the trimmings of a good night out.
Newly formed Elysian Creative is a Perth based performance and concept dance brand debuting with FRINGE WORLD Festival in 2021. Launched as a COVID project to connect dancers globally during isolation, the company has grown exponentially since. After major success as an online class platform Elysian Creative began running sold out workshop series in Perth after the lifting of restrictions. The company now connects Perth based creatives for commercial dance work and specialist curated performances across WA.
Elysian Creative founder and Choreographer Rafaela Lico explains “I wanted to create something bursting with energy and passion. By entering The Underground, I want every audience member to feel as though they are being swept away from reality and captured by the atmosphere of the club. I want everyone in the audience to want to be on the edge of their seats, wishing they were a part of the onstage story. This production brings together years of passion and dedication to my craft, and I get to work alongside some of Perth’s best creatives. I can’t wait to see Perth talent shine”.
This new, energy packed, star studded production is the perfect way to end your night at fringe – Can you take the heat?

He didn’t move to Melbourne until Rove McManus asked him to help him out with his new TV show. Most non-Melbournites only know Callan through the two seasons he spent on Rove. The segment on Rove for which he is best remembered is “Words That Sound Better When Said By Dave”.
Cloaked in his thick Irish accent, Dave was able to make words such as the following extremely funny: portfolio, plectrum, haberdashery and trousers to name a few. His other TV credits
