A modern take on new wave emo and pop-punk, Perth’s Triggerlip released their debut EP ‘Your Dear Life’ in October 2018 to overwhelmingly positive reviews and a sold out launch show.
In addition to the release, they undertook an East Coast tour with dates in Melbourne and Adelaide supporting Madura Green (ADL), Bukowski (MEL) and Oaks (Syd). After a great run in 2018, they brought in the new year by supporting Citizen (USA) and Turnstile (USA) January on the Perth leg of their Australian Tour and most recently supporting The Faim (AUS) on their State of Mind Australian tour in July.
This is a band that’s going places, so the release of new single, ‘Foundations’, is bound to raise some attention.
Packed with scratchy low-fi goodness and a sucker-punch chorus, ‘Foundations’ is 3:24 of hook laden, angsty pop that demands just one more listen every time it comes to a close.
From the opening vocals, ‘Foundations’ draws you into it’s world of beguiling ‘ooos’ and claustrophobic guitars that counterpoint nicely across the stretch of the track.
If ‘Foundations’ is anything to go by, we can expect to hear more and greater things from Triggerlip in the future.
Have a listen to it now.
