WINTER WEDNESDAYS BRING DIVERSE MUSIC TO THE CITY
The Sewing Room is bringing live music to the Perth CBD every Wednesday night through winter with a versatile line-up for its WINTER WEDNESDAYS!
The weekly gigs starting June 5 promise to deliver a series of hot events through the cooler months to let music lovers spend the midweek hump within the warm, intimate surrounds of one of Perth’s oldest buildings and newest live music spaces.
The venue has curated a diverse range of styles and an incredible selection of musicians to light up the city from 7-10pm each Wednesday evening.
A full line-up of events will be released over the coming weeks, but here are some of the highlights:
WEDNESDAY JUNE 5 ~ JAZZ ~ OPENING NIGHT
ADAM HALL & THE VELVET PLAYBOYS: BON VOYAGE
Our opening night sound selection comes from Adam Hall & The Velvet Playboys. Come on down and say Bon Voyage to Adam Hall and the VPs as they take off overseas for the next three months. The band will be playing the music of New Orleans and the Hot 6 in there as well and promises to be an evening not to forget.

AN INTIMATE EVENING WITH JESSIE GORDON
Jessie Gordon is a 15-time Fringe World Music and Cabaret award-winning singer, musician and teacher, living and breathing her passion of jazz, blues and roots music. Singing since she was 15 years old, Jessie has fronted everything from jazz duos to big bands and has toured Europe, Asia and Australia. An immensely talented and versatile performer, Jessie’s stage presence and innate sense of how to build rapport with a crowd is second to none and has earned her a solid and loyal following the world over. Jessie has five albums to her name, including her most recent recordings, the 2018 release of her original music entitled “A Work of Friction” and the 2019 release of jazz and original acoustic music alongside her longtime collaborator Mark Turner, entitled “Best Friends”. Join her for an intimate evening of original music, jazz standards and soulful blues.

SHEERAN OUT LOUD
Expect an epic one-man show, celebrating the music from the most influential artist of the decade. All of your favourite Ed Sheeran songs performed at this awesome music venue ensuring the best possible audio and visual experience.
Joe Boshell executes Ed’s songs live just like the man himself, using nothing but a loop pedal. Born and raised in the East of England, just like Ed, Joe has made a living performing around the world as a singer-guitarist for the past 10 years. With his soft British singing voice and rhythmical acoustic guitar playing, it just made sense for Joe to become a tribute to an artist he admires.

BEAUFORT ST SONGWRITERS CLUB presents FRESH EARS
The Beaufort St Songwriters Club teams up with The Sewing Room to deliver an intimate evening with incredible songwriters in warm surrounds. Beaufort St Songwriters Club is an institution in Mt Lawley. For the last four and a half years they’ve nurtured some of the finest talents every week. In a new chapter, the songwriters club goes pop-up! Moving new events to new locations and creating a great atmosphere for songwriting events. WA is a melting pot for unbelievable talent and we are excited to showcase some of the fresh sounds that have been brewing in Western Australia. Six acts on stage for you! witness the calibre of emotions and feelings that it takes to write a tune while soaking into comfy couches and moody drinks on a Wednesday evening. TRISKTRISK is one of Perth’s premier improvising ensembles, well known for the fiery musical rapport and joyous collaboration between keyboardist Chris Foster, bassist Nick Abbey, and drummer Daniel Susnjar. The trio return to the Sewing Room stage to present their signature style of jazz instrumentals, taking diverse influence from world music, folk, pop, R&B, and hip-hop. This incredible, high-energy show is definitely not to be missed!

BLUES MOODS WITH KERRY B RYAN
Kerry B Ryan is a critically acclaimed and experienced blues guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and recording artist. He first picked up a guitar at the tender age of thirteen, and has been carrying a guitar everywhere he goes ever since. Frequently described as a must-see artist for true blues lovers, Kerry brings a wealth of experience to the stage, having performed live for over 30 years. He has also written, arranged and recorded his own original blues music, which has received airplay and acclaim across Australia and the USA. Starting out his working life as a stockman on cattle stations in Queensland, Kerry now resides in Perth and performs sold-out shows all around Australia at well-respected venues and festivals such as The Ellington Jazz Club, The Duke of George, Adelaide Guitar Festival, Perth Blues Festival, West Oz Blues Festival, Bridgetown Blues Festival and many more. Kerry draws his inspiration from a wide range of influences such as Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, Albert King, Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Freddie King and Robert Johnson, to name a few. He always gives his audiences a stellar performance, playing from the heart and always keeping an open mind to allow the music to guide him. His guitar solos are an exciting thing to witness! FUNKED UP BRASS BAND
Back for a shaking Wednesday evening at the Sewing Room! Get off your lazy brasses and come down to get funked up with Perth’s biggest and baddest brass band! Hurl yourself into the tumultuous music of the ‘Dirty South,’ as well as ‘brassified’ and ‘funkified’ hits of the decades. From the classic New Orleans, “When the Saints Go Marching In,” to Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing,” there is a tune for everyone! With the honk of four trombones, the hot intensity of three trumpets, the sensual wails of three saxophones, the deep growl of a sousaphone, the pounding of two drums, and the saucy commentary of one of Perth’s premier singers, you are sure to be entertained!

This is the first time The Sewing Room has opened on Wednesday nights.
