AUTUMN SAGE
‘LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL’
Born from the artist’s personal journey through depression, ADHD, trauma, and the complexities of motherhood, ‘Light At The End Of The Tunnel’, the new single from Autumn Sage is raw, honest and plaintive.
‘Light At The End Of The Tunnel’, is laden with hope and the coming of the light
Will today be like so many other yesterdays? / Or will today be the end of this tunnel?
Built around arpeggiated acoustic guitar and accented with a mournful cello, Autumn Sage’s voice is all ache and yearning. ‘Light At The End Of The Tunnel’ is probably about as real as you can get in any medium, but it holds out hope as well, as the song’s title confirms. The tunnel is a necessary part of the journey, without it, illumination would not shine so bright. it’s the waiting that makes the return of light feel impossible, but artists like Autumn Sage and songs like ‘Light At The End Of The Tunnel’ remind us that hope is inevitable and their reminders help us to endure the darkness, if we’re open to listening.
‘Light At The End Of The Tunnel’ is the follow up to Autumn Sage’s wonderfully nuanced debut, ‘Why?’, which Around The Sound marked down as ‘instant’ and ‘salve for the ragged souls of 21st-Century Earth dwellers’. In a way, Autumn Sage’s new single is a continuation of the vein that ‘Why?’ cuts into, but ‘Light At The End Of The Tunnel’ is even more direct, more bleak and, because of this, more impactful, albeit in a gentle, folky way.
And, amongst all of its emotional chaos, ‘Light At The End Of The Tunnel’, is laden with hope and the coming of the light. For those who need to know it will return, this could be the song for you.
To celebrate the release of ‘Light At The End Of The Tunnel’, Autumn Sage has invited people to a special afternoon picnic concert on Sunday, 25 May to be held in a peaceful outdoor space at a secret location that will be revealed to ticket-holders 24 hours before the show.
“This event is more than a performance,” said Autumn Sage, “it’s a safe, welcoming space for people to connect and be present with their emotions. I encourage you to bring a picnic blanket, snacks, and an open heart.”
‘Light At The End Of The Tunnel’ is out now on streaming worldwide.
